Lagos PDP Sacks Chairman, Appoints Replacement

According to Channels TV, the Executive Committee of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Lagos chapter, has removed the party’s chairman, Mr Tunji Shelle. The EXCO reached its decision after a disciplinary committee was set up to investigate some allegations levelled against Mr Shelle. Subsequently, the EXCO appointed Mr Olounje to hold the office in acting capacity.

Chelsea Close UCL Door On Liverpool

Liverpool's hopes of Champions League qualification were all but ended on Sunday as they drew 1-1 at newly crowned Premier League champions Chelsea in a langourous end-of-season encounter. Both goals were headers scored by former England captains, with Chelsea skipper John Terry's fifth-minute opener cancelled out shortly before halftime by his Liverpool counterpart Steven Gerrard.

Nigerians Win UK Parliament Election

There were reports before yesterday 7th May about some Nigerians contesting for election in the UK Parliament. The Four Nigerians who contested for various seats to represent different county in UK's parliament won their elections. Helen Grant won the seat for Member of Parliament representing Maidstone and The Weald while Chuka Umunna won the elections to represent Streatham. Kate Osamor won the seat for Edmonton in North London while Chi Onwurah won the seat for New Castle upon Tyne Central. Really happy for these people.

Supreme Court bars NASS from amending the constitition

Nigeria's Apex court, the Supreme court, has barred the National Assembly from taking further steps towards amending the ‎1999 constitution. Delivering its Judgement today May 7th, the seven man panel of justices led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, ‎Justice Mahmud Mohammed directed the National Assembly members to maintain status quo on the matter until June 18 for further hearing.

Another 25 Freed From Sambisa Forest

 According to Al Jazeerah, another 25 men and women have reportedly been rescued Sambisa forest. Nigerian Army spokesperson, Colonel Sani Usman said today that the women and children were freed during a military operation in the forest this morning May 6th. One soldier was reportedly killed while five others sustained injuries.

Manny Pacquaio To Be Penalized For Not Disclosing Shoulder Injury

Above is a photo of Manny Pacquaio just two days after fighting and losing to Mayweather. His hand is in a sling as he prepares to undergo surgery on his torn rotator cuff. The US boxing commission is angry with him for not disclosing that he had a shoulder injury before the fight. They say he was dishonest, and he now faces a potential lawsuit from the commission. They say he also committed perjury when he signed the pre-fight questionnaire without revealing he was hurt

Manny Pacquiao's Aunt Claims The fight Was Fixed

Boko Haram: 214 Rescued Girls Pregnant – UNFPA

Following the latest rescue of additional 234 women and children by the Nigerian Army from the Sambisa Forest in Borno State, indicated, yesterday, that a sizeable number of the rescued girls were visibly pregnant, even as unofficial reports put the latest number of pregnant girls in one of the camps in Borno as at last Saturday at 214. Giving this indication in Lagos, Executive Director, UNFPA, Prof. Babatunde Osotimehin, also disclosed that in the last one year, the organization had taken deliveries of over 16,000 pregnancies in the troubled North East part of the country.
